Description

YOUTH AGAINST MENTAL HEALTH & ILLNESS STIGMA (YAMHIS) IS AN EVENT PEACE OF MIND HOSTS WITH THE GOAL OF PROMOTING AWARENESS AND RAISING CONVERSATION WITHIN THE YOUTH COMMUNITY.

YAMHIS consists of selected youth speakers and performers that are passionate about creating conversation surrounding mental health and erasing the stigma that has been attached to it for far too long. We have had students, parents, teachers, social justice activists, and government officials take the stage to share their experiences, and also sit in the crowd to bare witness to the power of conversation. Peace of Mind aims to have a variety of speakers to cover different perspectives from personal experiences, resources, and inspirational messages of hope to empower others to overcome obstacles that seem impossible to conquer. YAMHIS provides a platform for young individuals to talk about their experiences. University can be isolating, stressful, and have a negative impact on our mental health. YAMHIS is a place to come together to inspire and empower our peers to get help, feel heard, find hope, and demand change where it is needed.

This event is open to all individuals but is targetted at high school and university students.
