Event description

Description

Your Mental Health Matters: YOUTH EDITION, will be a community event for middle school and high school-aged children in the Huntsville and surrounding areas that focuses on the role that their mental health plays in their self-esteem and self-image, academic performance, relationships and friendships. During this workshop, attendees will learn about various mental health-related topics, work in groups to formulate strategies for success, learn about different evidence-based strategies and interventions they can use in their own lives to be the best versions of their developing selves, and learn what they can do to help reduce the stigma of mental health and mental illness among their peers. In a safe and supportive environment, attendees will be able to share their experiences, learn from the experiences of others, and connect as one community. There will be refreshments provided, a chance to enter into a raffle for amazing prizes, and a workbook to utilize during the workshop and beyong.

Kindall desired to return to the Huntsville community where she grew up and give back in her unique way-advocating for mental health and working to destigmatize the topic of mental health and mental illness in her community. Additionally, having worked in education for the last 11 years in various capacities, the most recent being the Secondary Counselor at an international school in Beijing, China, Kindall has witnessed first-hand the impact unnoticed, mislabled, and untreated mental health struggles have on children and adolescents, especially students of color.

She looks forward to seeing you there!
