Event description

Description

Ever wonder how your tiny carbon footprint really impacts the big picture of climate change? Though you might feel like your impacts are insignificant, the choices we make in our day-to-day life can play a major role in slowing climate change by changing economic markets and cultural norms.

This workshop will begin by reviewing the science of climate change and the urgency of action. We will then discuss the steps you can take to minimize your carbon footprint in your home and yard, from making your home more energy efficient and installing solar panels to maintaining healthy soils and plantings in your yard. Taken together, our actions make a positive impact on our world.

Speakers include:

David Fraser-Hidalgo: State Delegate District 15

Sara Via: PhD, Professor, University of Maryland, Climate co-lead, Chesapeake Physicians for Social Responsibility

Randy Gentry: Chair, Sierra Club Maryland Chapter subcommittee on energy efficiency and energy conservation

Rev. Holly Jackson: Pastor, United Church of Christ of Seneca Valley

Dinner will be provided. Event is free and open to the public. Please Register.

Event is sponsored by Chesapeake Physicians for Social Responsibility, Sierra Club - Montgomery County Group, and Safe Grow Montgomery.
