How do you transform MARTA stations into neighborhood destinations – attractive places to people watch or grab coffee or even catch a yoga class? Throughout the summer a design team led by Smith Dalia has been hard at work exploring this question and now we would like to hear from YOU. Please join us to learn more about our plans to enhance Midtown’s three MARTA Stations: Arts Center, Midtown and North Avenue.
About the MARTA Transit Station Enhancements
This project is a partnership between Midtown Alliance, MARTA, and the Atlanta Regional Commission to transform Midtown’s MARTA transit stations into gateway experiences for pedestrians and commuters. The plans will identify creative, implementable solutions to maximize Midtown’s existing transit infrastructure; increase the number of people taking transit; reduce congestion and improve air quality; and sustain economic development in one of the region’s most densely developed activity centers. The enhancement plans will focus on a range of issues including access, safety, maintenance, wayfinding, lighting, landscaping and public art, primarily on the exterior of each station. The resulting recommendations will be a prioritized list of immediate and long-range improvements that can be implemented over the next three to five years, as funding becomes available.
Please RSVP to participate in the planning process.
The meeting can be conveniently accessed from MARTA via the Arts Center Station. There is also paid parking available in the adjacent deck located on 15th Street.
