Event description
Your Call series exploring the connections between Japanese American incarceration during WWII and modern threats to civil liberties.

About this Event

Host Rose Aguilar will speak to Nancy Ukai and Judy Shintani about how they are using art to explore the ramifications of Japanese American incarceration during WWII.

Through “50 objects, 50 stories” researcher Nancy Ukai has curated artifacts from Japanese internment camps to recover and animate stories of those who lived through it. Artist Judy Shintani’s work fosters internee memories and hidden stories about the time.

This event is part of the Your Call's series "HEAR: Histories of Exclusion And Resistance.” HEAR is made possible by funding from the California State Library's California Civil Liberties Public Education Program.
