Young Journey is excited to provide a free performing arts and media youth program at the Round Rock Public Library.
The workshops are real world training helping to develop needed life skills and disciplines in young people.Youth are filming and editing for the Young Journey TV shows. Participants are guided in writing their own scripts, creating and recording original songs, choreographing dances, blocking stage productions, filming and editing their own music videos, PSA's and television productions. Participants explore many careers in various fields. Visit www.YoungJourney.org to learn more.
Participant registration must be made by a legal parent or legal guardian. Your child named as the ticket holder of this registration will attend Young Journey. We look forward to working with you!
What ages may participate?
11 - 18 years
What if my child is one year younger or older?
Please call the Texas office at 512.784.2459 to discuss.
Is there a cost to participate?
No. The program is free. A daily snack will be served.
What days and times will program will run?
Days are not consecutive. You will receive an updated schedule at the site.
Tuesdays, Fridays and occassional Saturdays as scheduled.
Weekday times are 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Saturday times are 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
What will my child be doing in each workshop?
Time is spent creating television productions and public service announcements. Participants explore many careers in performing arts and media.
Can my child bring a friend or sibling?
Yes. Each youth must be registered individually by their parent or legal guardian.
When I register should I put my name or or my child's name as the ticket holder?
Please put your child's name as the ticket holder.
Is my child's ticket transferable?
No. Each registration gives the named ticket holder permission to participate and be filmed/recorded as stated below.
Does my child need to bring a printed confirmation?
Yes. Please bring a copy of your printed confirmation on the first day.
Will I need to escort my child or sign my child in and out of the workshops?
The program requires you to sign your child in and out of each workshop. Please note that your child must be picked up on time immediately at dismissal as scheduled. If you would like your child to sign themselves in or out, you must bring a signed letter in person before their first day of attendance giving your child permission to sign themselves in or out of each session.
Are there any mandatory parent meetings or workshops?
Yes. At least one meeting will be scheduled per quarter.
Are program spaces limited?
Yes. 25 is the maximum. First come first serve. However, your child will be placed on our waiting list if we reach the maximum. As space or additional programs become available, you will be notified.
Can my child attend selected days?
While we understand circumstances and changes do arise, all registered participants must commit to attend all days scheduled. Feel free to contact us for additional information regarding attendance and flexibility.
Does Young Journey have any questions for me?
Yes. Is your child allergic to any foods? Does he or she have any health concerns we should aware of? Is he or she taking any medications? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, or if there is any other important information we should know about your child, please send it by email to Jaha Wilder. Or please inform the sign in staff. At sign in, all parents/guardians will be asked to leave an emergency contact name and phone number.

Participants will be filmed and photographed as they learn how to create television productions.
By registering your child for this event/program, you give your child permission to participate in the program and give consent for your child to be filmed, photographed, voice recorded or videotaped for non-profit use (e.g. educational, public service, or health awareness purposes).
You hereby consent to the participation in interviews, the use of quotes, and the taking of photographs, movies or video filming of your child named at the ticket holder by The Young Journey Foundation and the Round Rock Public Library. You also grant to The Young Journey Foundation and the Round Rock Public Library, the right to edit, use, and reuse said products for non-profit purposes including use in print, on the internet, and all other forms of media worldwide. You also hereby release The Young Journey Foundation and the Round Rock Public Library, its agents, employees and volunteers from all claims, demands, and liabilities whatsoever in connection with the above.
IF YOU'D LIKE YOUR CHILD TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM, BUT YOU DO NOT CONSENT TO HAVING YOUR CHILD IN PHOTOGRAPHS AND/OR VIDEO PRODUCTIONS, YOU MUST BRING A SIGNED LETTER IN PERSON TO THE PROGRAM PRIOR TO YOUR CHILD PARTICIPATING. ALSO, PLEASE NOTIFY JAHA WILDER, EXECUTIVE PROGRAM DIRECTOR, BY EMAIL AT TEXAS@YOUNGJOURNEY.ORG BEFORE YOUR CHILD STARTS IN THE PROGRAM. YOU WILL RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION FROM JAHA WILDER THAT YOUR EMAIL WAS RECEIVED AND WE ACKNOWLEDGE YOU DO NOT CONSENT.
