Event description

Description

With more than 70,000 people buried in Oakland, there are thousands of stories waiting to be told. During this two-part homeschool program (September 6 and October 4), Young Historians will learn skills for creative writing, research and write about an Oakland “resident,” and become a junior tour guide!

Students MUST attend the September 6 program in order to participate in the October 4 program.

Age: Recommended for ages 7-12.

Experience a different side of Oakland Cemetery with Young Historians, Historic Oakland Foundation’s educational program for homeschool students and their families. Each program will explore a special topic and offer opportunities for students to learn in Oakland Cemetery’s unique setting.

Young Historians programs are from 10 a.m. to noon. Programs will be held inside the Visitors Center and outside on the grounds of Oakland Cemetery. Each two-hour Young Historians program includes games, fun activities, and tours designed to engage and educate.
