The new wave of Australian wine are breaking on the beaches of Cottesloe as, for the first time in its eleven year history, Young Gun of Wine comes to Perth on Friday December 2.
The event, Young Gun of Wine UNCUT, will show some of Australia’s most cutting edge winemaking. Held at Il Lido Italian Canteen from 1-4pm, more than 20 winemakers will pour their wares over a three hour “la dolce vita” Friday luncheon, with antipasti, pasta and cheese served canapé style.
Acclaimed sommelier, and Il Lido partner, Dan Wegener has said this will be their biggest winemaker tasting yet.
"The thought of us hosting Young Gun of Wine for the first time in Western Australia has us punching at stars! Young Gun is uncovering the freshest new faces of the Australian wine industry and finally in year 11 of the awards, Perth will show all that talent. We’re proud, loud and ready to usher in the new wave of Australian wine to Perth through our beloved Il Lido Italian Canteen.”
“The whole team is honoured and totally fired up about hosting the Young Gun of Wine event… These old walls have a few stories to tell, but this is set be one of her biggest!”
Established in 2007, the Young Gun of Wine discovers the finest and most innovative emerging winemakers throughout Australia. It is the place to spot the best new talent and trends in wine: what these people are making today, everyone will be drinking tomorrow. This search starts with UNCUT, an up close and unfiltered look at the freshest wines and winemaking in Australia.
The Young Gun of Wine has been dubbed “an incubator for emerging talent,” by Brian Walsh, Chairman of Wine Australia, with a past nominees list that “reads like a who’s who of the contemporary wine scene."
