Training for post-16 education staff in Sheffield: How to support young carers' transition into Higher Education

About this event
Run jointly by Sheffield Young Carers, Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Sheffield, and Hepp (Higher Education Progression Partnership) the session will give post-16 education staff:
- An understanding of who young carers are, the impacts of unsupported caring, and some of the barriers to HE.
- An understanding of the different kinds of pre-entry support available for young carers in Sheffield.
- Practical steps you can take to support young carers to access this support, and help them with University applications
The session will run for one hour, and there will be time to ask questions.
For students applying to start their course in 2023, UCAS has introduced a new section in the application so they can share more information about their circumstances with the university or college – including whether they have caring responsibilities.
