To the untrained eye a glance at Mount Diablo can give you the impression its entirely protected. The reality is that there are still significant areas of unprotected land on the Mountains’ slopes. Save Mount Diablo acquired Young Canyon, a 17 acre property located nearly half way up North Peak in 2002, and recently protected another 85 acres nearby. Join us on a steep but short hike up the slopes of North Peak to visit Young Canyon and learn about land preservation and natural history on the Mountain. Be sure to dress in layers and wear sturdy boots or shoes, bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a snack. Heavy rain cancels the event.
