**A WORLD PREMIERE PLAY**
You Gotta Eat Dirt Before You Die, written by Dr. Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon and co-directed by Malcolm Kenyatta & Terrell Green is a at its core a show about life, death, and family .
The play, set in the 1980's follows, Jefferson an African American business professional whose lover Nick is dying from AIDS while his mother simultaneously is diagnosed with an untreatable and aggressive cancer. Jeff is forced to confront his secrets, deal with the family he's tried to avoid and watch a disease he doesn't understand kill the man he loves. Written in an almost novella format it transports you to a time when HIV and AIDS were not readily discussed above a whisper and interracial relationships, especially gay ones were looked at with more than a wayward glance. It's a story that causes us to re-examine the progress we've made since HIV hit the scene in the 1980's and explore where we still have to go.
