Who will benefit from this?

  • People assigned to be ‘the safety person’
  • People that sense that they need a safety person or program
  • Human Resources professionals
  • Managers and supervisors
  • Business owners

Overview:

People are often assigned the job of being ‘the safety person’ because, frankly, someone else doesn’t want to bother with it.

The problem is that the now safety director may have little or no idea about what the requirements are, and where to find answers. Also, because of all of the horror stories they’ve heard they are now are scared of OSHA.

This talk is not a technical talk. It’s a resources talk.

This is about where to go to get the info you need to begin to run an effective safety program, and to know that you can actually have OSHA on your side.

This discussion and conversation with the speaker will answer questions similar to these:

  • What are the minimum requirements for safety with respect to paperwork, training, and so forth?
  • What are my personal liabilities as the safety point person?
  • What certifications are required to be in safety?
    • What training/certifications would most help me?
    • Where can I get this training/certification?
  • What paperwork do I need to file and when? (Or not file but have displayed)
  • What do I actually have to train my people on?
  • Do I have to train my office staff?
  • Does OSHA offer any help, or are they just here to fine me?
  • What is the difference between FED-OSHA and CAL-OSHA?
  • What is an IIPP and do I need one?
  • Is OSHA the only agency I need to comply with? (Fire marshal, etc. are examples people don’t know about.)
  • I work for hospitals, veterinarians, construction, staffing - what are my employee’s minimum safety training requirements (and THAT could be a huge topic, but it can be handled quickly.)
