"Yogini" Awakening the Divine Feminine by Maya Swati Devi
Sat, Jul 8, 2017, 9:00 AM – Sun, Jul 9, 2017, 5:00 PM BST
This workshop has been created for women to live a fundamental experience in contact with their Divine Feminine through practices, rituals and dances arising from the Indian tradition. The woman’s power as initiator to love is great and lies primarily in her spiritual attitude to and experience of sexuality.
The conscious woman loves her body and looks at other women as sisters in the process of bringing love, meaning, and respect into society. The conscious woman knows how to express her true nature. She is free from personal dramas and is moved by love in every action and thought. This workshop is created for women who want to bring more consciousness into their lives and tap into their true essence of Goddesses on earth.
During this workshop Maya Swati Devi will share some practices, rituals and dances coming from the Indian Shakta Tantric tradition and inspired by the dances from Odisha, India. According to the Indian Shakta Tantric tradition the entire universe is the result of the sacred dance of two opposites, Shiva, the male and static principle, and Shakti, the female and dynamic principle.
Shakti represents the Universal Mother and Goddess and her many manifestations are called Mahavidya, the Goddesses of the Great Knowledge. Through learning about the Mahavidya, women will tap into their true nature, their creativity and their intuition. They will recover their nature of initiators to love and rediscover their bodies through the use of asanas (yoga postures), mudras (sacred hand gestures) and mantra (sacred sounds).
This transformative journey with Maya Swati Devi will take place in the soft and green lands of Glastonbury, known for sitting on the ancient Isle of Avalon. Glastonbury has been a pilgrimage place for thousands of years. Tradition has it that Jesus visited Glastonbury, King Arthur and Guinevere were buried there and it was an ancient place of the Ancient British Goddess, who some can see outlined in the contours of the hills which rise out of the flat Summerland meadows. Glastonbury’s atmosphere and magic will guide women into this inner journey towards their inner Goddesses.

Biography - Maya Swati Devi
Born in Tuscany, Maya Swati Devi has been passionate about dance, oriental philosophies and religions since childhood. Following her initiation in 2007 into the Kaula school of Tantrism by Master Swami Anand Guptananda in India, she has been working as a Tantra teacher and student of Master Swami Param Eswaran, who has been spreading the tradition of the Shakta Tantrism of the Living Goddess. Upon her return to Italy, Maya funded Devi Tantra Yoga, the first Italian school of Indian Tantrism, Tantra Yoga, Divine Feminine, which she has been teaching alongside mystical and meditative dances coming from the “gipsy route”, the gipsy way that goes all the way from India to Spain. Maya’s passion for a wide range of gipsy dances, from the folk dance of Rajasthan, the Kalbeliya of the snake enchanters, Bharata Natyam and the Chau dance of Orissa to flamenco, led to the creation of the Nomad Dance Fest. This was the first Italian festival of nomadic dances, music and culture; which Maya founded in 2014 and has managed since. Maya Swati Devi recently published a biography titled ‘The Tantric Dancer’, which documents her spiritual path and the foundations of Tantrism.
