Event description
Yoga Therapy: The Essential Role of Movement, Meditation and Breathing Techniques for Optimal Living

About this Event

Join us to learn how yoga therapy uses movement, meditation and breathwork to alleviate suffering related to physical, mental and emotional conditions. The workshop will feature an introduction to basic principles of yoga therapy and the latest research on how yoga, mindfulness and meditation affect the body and brain and how it can be used as tools for changing patterns that reinforce addictive behaviors. The event will also offer gentle, guided practices to showcase the benefits of a body-centered approach to healing. There will be time for Q + A and opportunities for networking. Light refreshments will be provided

Kelly Couturier is a certified yoga therapist who uses movement, meditation and other yoga practices to help clients find relief from mental and physical health challenges. She leads mindfulness, meditation and movement sessions at The Addiction Institute of Mount Sinai and also works with private clients.

Her approach emphasizes the increasingly recognized therapeutic potential of yoga. As a mind-body tradition that teaches attention to the breath and the body in movement, yoga is particularly suited to help people redefine their relationship with their body, in the process discovering a new, sometimes surprising, sense of whole health and well-being.
