Event description

Description

The workshop will start off being lead by Miya with the healing vibrations of chanting that leads into a 1 hour and 15 minute stimulating asana class and then settles you into a grounded and peaceful guided meditation. Everyone will then make their way into shavasana where they will sink into a 1 hour SOUND BATH (lead by Michael) which will connect you even more deeply to your true essence with the healing vibrations of the gong, himalayan singing bowls, chimes, rattles, and tuning forks. Ajay, a certified Thai masseuse, will also be using his gentle and heartfelt touch to massage each student using essential oils, while in the sound bath, to support an even deeper release.

ALL LEVELS WELCOME!

About Miya: The first yoga class Miya took was taught by the blessed Dharma Mittra. Walking out of the studio Miya felt mystified and inspired. What resonated deeply for her was the importance of internal truth, discipline and compassion in the yogic traditions. Sixteen years later Miya sees that the essence of life is what lies in-between the highs and lows. Her yogic practice now finds stability in what is always changing. In 2006 she received a 300 Hour Yoga certification from Seven Centers Yoga Arts in Sedona Arizona under the guidance of Ruth Hartung. In 2011 she completed her 800 Hour Jivamukti Yoga certification at the feet of Sharon Gannon, David Life, and Yogesari. Her Jivamukti training included an apprenticeship in which she studied exclusively with her dear mentor and teacher Lady Ruth Lauer-Manetti. Miya's classes combine a quiet spirituality, chanting, music, and a rhythmic-vinyasa, The pace of her classes is slow but challenging. She loves to work with her hands to employ clear, supportive adjustments. Miya encourages students to have a daily practice so that they can begin to cultivate the freedom that discipline brings to ones life.

About Michael: Michael Jay is a health coach who has studied shiatsu with Ohashi, tuning forks in the Acutonics system and other healing modalities including EFT and Reiki. He is committed to using sound for its immense healing power and has been studying with and assisting the Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux in his N.Y.

About Ajay: Ajay was born in India and has been practicing and trying to understand Yoga for more than 20 years. He has been complimenting his Yoga practice with other forms of fitness such as Martial Arts and Dancing. He realizes that Yoga is not just about the Asanas which is just one of the eight limbs of Yoga. But that it starts with controlling ones behavior (first two limbs of Yoga) and then moving onto controlling the body (next three limbs) and finally controlling the mind (last three limbs). Also he realizes that the progress in all the eight limbs can be done in parallel and that more we practice the lower limbs the easier the higher limbs become. Since last year he has been practicing giving traditional Thai massage. The practice of Thai massage is built on loving kindness and is therapeutic and meditative both for the giver and the receiver and Ajay loves to give a two hour therapeutic traditional Thai massage.
