Yoga Gives Back is a registered non-profit organisation in the United States, founded in 2007 by Kayoko Mitsumatsu to express gratitude for the gift of yoga by mobilising the global yoga community to empower impoverished women and children in Mother India to build sustainable livelihoods.

Each year the worldwide yoga community unites with a heart opening effort to change the lives of those less fortunate during this global campaign. This annual campaign generates the majority of Yoga Gives Back’s funding to India each year and supports programmes which provide micro-finance loans and education grants to nearly 1,200 mothers, children and youths based on Muhammad Yunus’ Grameen Bank model.

YGB’s latest campaign is to reach “ONE MILLION YOGIS” to join forces. It’s estimated that 300 million people enjoy yoga in the world today generating $80 billion. If One Million Yogis came together, many move lives Can be uplifted from poverty.

Women’s Centre for Change (WCC), Penang is the other beneficiary of this event and funds raised will be dedicated to support the important and critical work WCC is engaged in to create a society free from gender violence and discrimination.

We are proud to announce that Penang Exco & Chairman of the Penang Women’s Development Centre, YB Chong Eng, will be officiating the event followed by a heart-opening yoga practice led by Gwen Tan-Wynne to express compassion and gratitude towards the practice.
