Part 1- Intro to Running and Yoga Basis

Aug 06, 2017 From: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM

This yoga class will show you how to stabilize your foundation and focuses on the base of all movements in running: the feet, ankles, and knees. Body awareness will be created as we work toward increasing stability, balance, and flexibility in the feet, ankles, and knees. Class is open to all levels and running experience.

"Intro to Running" panel discussion and Q & A will follow the class. Featured speakers will discuss running types, running gear, workout types, and different running methods.

Part 2- Fueling Today's Runner

Better your running in this yoga class aimed at stretching, strengthening, and toning the muscles of the core and back. Effective engagement and awareness of these muscles will improve posture, realign the spine, and stabilize the midsection in a way that allows for greater efficiency and ease in running. Class is open to all levels and running experience.

"Fueling Today's Runner" panel discussion and Q & A will follow the class. Featured speakers will discuss pre-run, on-the-run, and post-run nutrition, but will also discuss fueling options to optimize running. Samples of different fueling options will be provided..

Part 3- Recovery and Injury prevention for today's Runner

Create a more fluid running stride in this yoga class that targets a runner's common tight spot, the hamstrings. These muscles at the back of the thigh are involved in every step and can impact spinal alignment and knee stability. In this class the hamstrings will be stretched and strengthened to increase range of motion. Class is open to all levels and running experience.

"Recovery and Injury Prevention For Today’s Runner" panel discussion and Q & A will follow the class. Featured Speakers will discuss common running injuries, injury prevention, injury recovery, and the importance of cross-training in building a stronger runner.

Part 4- Mindfulness for Today's Runner

Reduce the impact of body weight on the legs in yoga class that focuses on building strength and stability in the hips and stretching supporting muscles. Because running keeps the hips in one plane of movement, this class will focus on poses that increase range of motion. This class is open to runners of all experience levels.

"Mindfulness For Today’s Runner" panel discussion and Q & A will follow the class. Featured speakers will discuss the psychology of running, including tools and tactics to improve one's mental strength while on the run.
