About this Event
The Series for Empathy and Equity in Education presents
Yoga As A Peace Practice: Creating A Resilient Community to restore individuals who are impacted by trauma from violence and the dysfunction and chaos left in its aftermath. The Black Yoga Teachers Alliance invites you to join us and the St. Louis community for a an experience of self-healing and uplift from social and cultural wounding.
Yoga As A Peace Practice highlights the contemplative approach of yoga to illuminate new ideas, ways of being, and offers practices that help ease the negative impact of violence on individuals and communities. It teaches us how to transform our hearts and minds and takes yoga off the mat and into our lives in a profoundly meaningful way.
August 9, 2019 will mark five years since the death of Michael Brown, a wound that prompted national protest, a wound that uncovered the ugly legacy of racial injustice and inequities, a wound that divided a city and finally a wound that infected its people with fear, anxiety and trauma. We return back to those wounds to begin to heal.
This three day training will be facilitated by: Maya Breuer, E-RYT; Jana Long, E-RYT, C-IAYT; Gail Parker, Ph.D, E-RYT, C-IAYT; and Terry Harris, Ed.D, RYT
