Part 1:  Strengthening Uddiyana Bandha

The practice of yoga asana is a method by which we can harmonize our mind with our body.  In his book, “Yoga And Sacred Geometry”, Samuel Palmer shows how the structure and movement of the human body is based on sacred geometric principles, as are all structures in the universe.  By aligning our awareness with these simple patterns, our practice will become more precise and much more effective, allowing us to progress much more quickly and safely.  One of the most important features of asana practice is the use of the Uddiyana Bandha.  In this specialized class, students will learn how correct use of this ancient technique is based on a truly advanced level of biomechanical awareness, and can be thoroughly understood through the insights of sacred geometry.

About Samuel:  Samuel Palmer has been practicing yoga steadily since 1993, beginning his practice at the age of 14.  During these early years, he used yoga to battle his condition of scoliosis.  His unwavering dedication to the practice led him to discover hidden physical talents that eventually would culminate in a career in performing arts.  In 2004 he began training in ballet and went on to perform as a dancer and as an aerialist/contortionist with a variety of performance troupes including the Royal Ballet of London, Blue Lapis Light Aerial Dance Company, and the Jim Rose Circus.  As his practice continued to develop, he became interested in revealing the underlying principles of yoga and making its powerful transformation potential more understood and available to everyone.  He has written two books that provide an in depth look at his unique methods and insights, which he has used to heal from a variety of injuries and physical setbacks.  His newest book, “Yoga And Sacred Geometry” shows the underlying geometry of the human body that is common to all structures in the universe, and how this information can inform our yoga practice, showing us clearly how to reach our fullest potential as yoga practitioners.
