Description

*Early Bird Pricing until 24 Jan! Yoga Workshops: Over the course of four, two-hour workshops, we will explore, through the lens of a Hatha Yoga practice, how we integrate and balance four ancient archetypes (Warrior, Teacher, Healer and Visionary) within ourselves.

Variations of these four archetypes can be found in Indigenous cultures the world over. It’s believed that in order to achieve balance in our lives, we must first balance these four archetypes residing within our oldest selves. How are these ancient archetypes within us showing up in our contemporary lives? Are we overly expressive in one archetype and underdeveloped in the others?

Each two-hour workshop will focus on one archetype. As a means of connecting and balancing the four archetypes within, ideally, participants will register for the entire series. However, each workshop may be experienced as a stand-alone event.

The Yoga & Ancient Archetypes Workshops:

1. Warrior: Saturday, 24 February 2018

There is not a culture in the world that does not have laws of governance or leadership. ‘Warrior’ is an old fashioned term for governance, and stewardingstewarding work, the home and family.

The way of the Warrior is about showing up and choosing to be present. Being present allows us to access our power, presence and right communication.

2. Teacher: Saturday, 10 March 2018

Every culture has a means of education – whether it’s traditional or non traditional – the process of learning and teaching is universal.

The way of the Teacher is to be open to outcome, not attached to outcome. Being open without being attached, allows us to connect with wisdom and objectivity.

In order to tap into our wisdom, we need to practice the art of listening.

Listening to our own guidance is a way of honouring our inherent wisdom. In our yoga practice, we learn to ‘listen’ to our bodies.

3. Healer: Saturday, 24 March 2018

The way of the Healer is to pay attention to what has heart and meaning. When we pay attention, we open ourselves to gratitude, acknowledgment and validation.

Healers, past and present, are inherently skilled in the art of acknowledgement. Whether the healer is a priest, medicine man/woman, doctor, nurse, therapist, veterinarian and so on, the task of the Healer is to pay attention to what has heart and meaning.

4. Visionary: Saturday, 7 April 2018

Throughout history soothsayers and artists have been referred to as Visionaries. Today, we can extend this group to entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk and those we now refer to as “Futurists”.

The Visionary reminds us to find our voice and to tell our truth without blame or judgment, as well as to not forget our life dream or purpose.

What you can expect:

  • Each workshop is centered on a yoga and relaxation / meditation practice that has been specifically designed for participants to connect with the featured archetype and to express the archetype through gentle movement of body and mind.
  • Each workshop will explore the theory and guiding principles of each of the archetypes.
  • And, each workshop will include time to pause and reflect on a series of questions that have been created for an inner quest to the archetypes that lie dormant inside.

These workshops may be of most interest to someone who is:

  • New to yoga as well as someone who has an established practice
  • Seeking meaning in a yoga practice
  • Curious about learning the language of their body through a yoga practice.
