Youth Mental Health First Aid training for Vigo County youth workers!
Invest 8 hours (4 hours each session) to train as a YMHFAider and be ready to help the youth of Vigo County and the state of Indiana. Training is similar to CPR. We know what to do in a medical emergency but what do we do in a mental health crisis? A young person you know could be experiencing a mental health or substance use problem.
Learn an action plan to help.
Anyone 18 or older can take Youth Mental Health First Aid, but it is especially recommended for those who regularly have contact with young people ages 12-18: teachers, coaches, social workers, faith leaders, parents, foster parents, CASA workers, volunteers and other caring citizens.
Certified instructors will train members of the public who are involved with youth to improve mental health literacy – helping them identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health issues. Seats are available for up to 30 registrants. Those successfully completing the 8 hours training will be certified for 3 years as a YMHFAider.
This training will be completed in two four hour sessions:
Session1 – Tuesday, 12/13/16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Session 2 – Wednesday, 12/14/16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
** attendance at both sessions is required to receive credit for the training
Take a course. Save a life. Strengthen your community.
Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for youth in the United States and quickly moving to the 2nd leading cause of death. Be one in a million trained to help.
