Event description

Description

YMentalHealth? will be hosted on Monday, September 23 2019 at American Eagle – Union Square, in New York City from 4.30pm-6.30pm ET.

At this year's UN General Assembly, there will be a significant focus on universal health coverage (UHC). It's time to raise our voices together to ensure that mental health is adequately recognized in the UHC planning as it sets the course of care delivery for nations across the globe.

Join local Coalition members, local New York students, youth advocates, global policy makers, and mental health advocates in ensuring that mental health is recognised as a priority at the UN General Assembly and worldwide. Youth advocates from around the world will be invited to share their stories and reason for why they believe youth mental health needs to be a global priority, using the #ynow hashtag.

The event will be both in person and virtual, providing an opportunity for a 110+ Coalition Membership from around the globe to join via live stream and engage in the conversation.

About the Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health

The Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health is an inclusive, multinational, youth-inspired initiative that aims to amplify the many voices on youth mental health. Worldwide, we are engaging with leading youth mental health organizations, young people experiencing mental illness, and the communities that support them to galvanize awareness, collaboration, and action. Since the Coalition’s launch in September of 2017, our membership has grown rapidly. Today, we count 110+ global organizations and individuals as members, and represent international advocacy organizations that are actively working on the ground with youth in Australia, Canada, Columbia, Ireland, Japan, Nigeria, India, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Join the conversation our website at ymentalhealth.org or follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @y_mentalhealth.

YMentalHealth? – Because our future depends on it. We believe that now is the time for global leadership to act upon their global commitment to mental health and achieve meaningful change for youth with mental illness. Without this catalyst, we will continue to see loved ones impacted by mental illness, families struggle to respond, and governments fail to meet the growing needs of this community.
