Yin Yoga Class:
Suitable for all levels. Yin Yoga- Is a slow meditative form of Yoga with Daoist roots. Unlike convention Yoga which is more focused on muscular “Yang” tissues, Yin Yoga focuses on the seldom worked “Yin” tissues in the body (bones, tendons, ligaments, joint capsules, fascia, etc...). In order to access these locations, poses are held for extended periods allowing the body to release and make slow meaningful changes over time. While there are a few exceptions, most Yin poses are conducted while seated or low on the mat. Yin is the perfect complement to a regular Yoga practice, people looking for greater flexibility, or those who aren’t sure they could do any kind of Yoga; In which case you’ll soon prove yourself wrong.
The class instructor is David Carey - Yoga Alliance 200 RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher). Introduced to Sivananda style Yoga at age 16, David experienced his first taste of Yoga in the foothills of the Catskill mountains while working at a spiritual retreat. It wasn't until later in life with the stresses of modern society that he'd think back on that first experience. Deciding to dive deeper and reintegrate it in his daily life, taking teacher training was only natural progression. With a strong belief that Yoga should be available to anyone, David urges integration both on mat and off. David has a background in Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Yin Yoga; as well as Tibetan Five Rites Yoga. Additionally, a long time practitioner of Ving Tsun Kung Fu, Qi Gong, Reiki, and Buddhist Meditation.
