Brief Description:

The Yemeni Labor Law Fundamentals training introduces the law to those who are new to the area and need a clear general understanding of its provisions. The training focuses on the areas of critical importance with regards to compliance through practical examples and cases.

This training enables you to handle the common employment issues that arise on a day-to-day basis in a confident and professional manner and to manage workplace issues in accordance with the law.

This training is designed for those who need to understand the fundamentals of the labor law in Yemen and who are new to this area. It is recommended for line managers or those with supervisory responsibilities as well as those who work in HR roles. This training is also relevant to employees who want to better understand their rights and duties under the Yemeni Labor Law.

      • Collective contracts and the role of labor unions

Session 4: Termination of employment

      • Termination without notice or compensation in lieu of notice
      • Termination with notice or compensation in lieu of notice
      • Instances in which an employer cannot terminate a contract

Session 5: Salaries

      • Salaries and obligatory deductions by employers
      • Allowances, overtime payments and paid leave
      • Special protection for an employee's salary

Session 6: Internal regulations

      • Formalities of internal regulations
      • Disciplinary measures
      • Safety rules

Session 7: Employment conflicts

      • Steps in resolving employment conflicts
      • Labor arbitration committees
      • Strikes

Facilitator Profile:

Laila A. Mohammed has extensive experience in the legal field. She holds an LLM from the University of Minnesota, USA, a Master-1 in International and European Law from the University of Toulouse, France, as well as a Bachelor degree in Sharia’a and Law from Sana’a University. She is currently a partner in Alaghbari & Partners Law Firm.
