Event description

Description

Did you know that knitting is sometimes referred to as the new yoga? Here's a sampling of why:

  • Both yoga and knitting allow the practitioner to leave thoughts and distractions behind and focus on a specific object or action.
  • In the same way as yoga asanas use physical movements to affect a change in your state of mind, so too does knitting. It's the rhythmic, repetitive movements that are important.
  • Knitting has the effect that yoga and meditation have which allows you to stop thinking about things you have to do and brings you to the moment.

Come learn more about this topic and enjoy a yoga class, knitting (instruction provided for beginners), refreshments, and take your chance on a raffle basket packed with wellness items. Knitting materials will be provided and each participant will leave with a skein of yarn, needles and knitting resource guide. All levels of yoga practitioners and knitters welcomed.

Workshop Leaders: Marci Love Thomas, yoga instructor teaches all level vinyasa and has specialized certifications in children's yoga and pre & postnatal yoga.

Carol Caparosa, founder of Project Knitwell (PK) and other PK volunteers will lead the knitting portion. Carol estimates she has taught well over 500 people in local hospitals to knit and loves working with beginner knintters.

All proceeds from this workshop will be donated to Project Knitwell.
