Event description
YAPA conference showcases each study group's work and discusses topics with legislators and community partners to further civic engagement.

About this Event

The Young American Policy Advocates (YAPA) program (https://www.yapadvocates.org/) wishes to promote youth civic engagement by connecting mentors, who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the local issues, with motivated high school students.

At the Youth In Action (YIA) Conference, YAPA students will showcase what they have done and show their appreciation of all the mentors. We selected 5 topics of interest for study groups for presentations: air pollution , housing crisis, performing arts in Silicon Valley, teen mental health, and tobacco use.

In addition to celebrating the accomplishments of our students and mentors, at the YIA conference, we will discuss topics with legislators and community partners to further civic engagement.
