Event description
This talk will explore the varied reactions to the growing presence and influence of Americans in France after the Second World War

About this Event

Professor John Flowers’ talk explores the varied reactions to the growing presence and influence of Americans and US culture in France after the Second World War, and through the 1950s and 1960s.

It concentrates in particular on views from the political and intellectual left, both moderate and extreme, from Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir to Pierre Courtade and André Stil, as well as other less committed but no less strongly held opinions
