Event description

Yale Women Innovators is a speaker series designed to foster community discussion, idea sharing, and networking in support of women and non-binary femme innovators across Yale's campus. Over breakfast, kick off your day with a welcoming community as inspiring innovators and entrepreneurs share their stories.

The series is produced by WE@Yale, a joint initiative of the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale (Tsai CITY) and the Yale SOM Program on Entrepreneurship.

All talks take place at the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking (254 Elm Street, 3rd floor).

Upcoming talks include:

9/11, 9am, Tsai CITY: Anna Cerilli, Founder and CEO, Darling June

Anna Cerilli is the founder and CEO of Darling June, a Public Benefit Corporation whose mission it is to increase mobility options for children with special needs by designing and manufacturing pediatric mobility devices. There are approximately 500,000 children in the United States with unmet mobility needs, and the mission at Darling June is to close that gap and address the needs of this vulnerable and deserving population.

Darling June was founded in October 2018. In just under one year, the corporation’s operations have expanded to Hong Kong, produced their prototype and is currently negotiating distribution to Europe including the United Kingdom, and Russia. By applying her skills in change management, Anna has used an innovative approach to transform what it looks and feels like to have special needs into something that can be celebrated rather than stigmatized. One of her most qualifying skills is being a mother of two amazing daughters, one with special needs.

Anna’s career in healthcare operations revolves around delivering outstanding patient services at Yale New Haven Hospital where she has worked since 2007. Anna’s work at YNHH focuses on the development and implementation of patient services by incorporating the latest technological advances and data to create systems that deliver excellent patient care.

Anna began her career as a Nurse and is currently earning her Master’s degree in Organizational Effectiveness & Leadership.

9/18, 9am, Tsai CITY: Annie Brown, Founder and CEO, Natural Annie Essentials

Born and raised on the beautiful island of Jamaica, Annie is no stranger to the nourishing, healing power of oils and herbs. She has always been a creative soul, with an eye for all things bright 'n' bold, (can you tell from her packaging)? Annie is a plant lover and also enjoys a huge glass of merlot. She is a Certified Aromatherapist who has a passion for taking nature's most scrumptious ingredients and turning them into divine beauty products and soy candles you just can't live without. When she is not making all the things in her home studio she is usually chasing her baby girls, Tiffany and Thalia. Annie created her company, NaturalAnnie Essentials, out of the need to care for her daughter Tiffany, who had a severe skin breakout after her spina bifida & hydrocephalus surgeries. After prescribed medications did not work, Annie turned to what she was familiar with: herbs, oils and natural butter. This was when she started to notice Tiffany’s skin started to make a change for the better. Today Annie describes her company as an island-inspired one-stop shop for uniquely scented handmade soy candles and bath & body products. She works daily to make you and your home look, smell, and feel good!
