Event Details

Yale Day of Data will be a day-long event that brings researchers together across the sciences and social sciences. This event will draw from the experiences of faculty to explore the common themes and intersections linking data-intensive sciences together—including challenges posed by the ever-increasing complexity of data, increased expectations from funders, and heightened attention to data as a research product.

The Day of Data will include:

Opening Remarks by Provost Ben Polak

Faculty Panels
Three panels of faculty will discuss their research's relationship to data. Please check back for a list of participants and topics as the event approaches.

Administrator Panel
Susan Gibbons (University Librarian), Len Peters (University CIO), Holly Rushmeier (Chair, Department of Computer Science), and James Antony (Associate Provost) will provide perspectives on data at Yale.

Poster Session
A short poster session (estimated time: 4:30-5:30 PM) will provide an opportunity for research groups to showcase interesting and innovative ways they are using and/or managing data within their labs.

While we do ask a question about your plans on the registration form, please note that the submission for the poster session is separate. Those indicating interest on the Day of Data registration form will receive a follow-up email with submission instructions. Even if you do not register for the Day of Data, you may submit a poster. Please check back for more information on the poster-only submission process later this August.

Service Showcase
This after-conference reception will provide an opportunity for Yale researchers to interact with staff members who support the data life cycle at Yale. Service showcase participants will include data librarians, ITS staff, the StatLab, the ISPS data archive, and the Peabody Museum. Faculty and graduate students are welcome to stop by the reception and learn more about the services that are available to them. Refreshments will be available during the showcase.
