Description

During the 2016-17 school year, more than 350 students from 3 public high schools partnered with four civic agencies on five city planning projects to build a healthier, more equitable and joyful Oakland. We're pleased to invite you to join community members, educators, and civic leaders from across Oakland to hear Y-PLAN Student Consultants at the first of two Y-PLAN Oakland 2017 Urban Planning Proposal Review Presentations. Projects include:



Increasing Community Connectivity to BART

Students:

  • Skyline High School African American Male Achievement Initiative Manhood Development Class (Jamal Muhammad)
  • Oakland High School African American Male Achievement Initiative Computer Science Class (Landon Miller)
  • Oakland High School African American Male Achievement Initiative Entrepreneurship Class (Landon Miller)

Project Question:

  • How can the Coliseum BART station be better connected to the surrounding community?

Resilient Oakland

Students:

  • Oakland Technical High School AP Environmental Science (Joseph Senn)

Civic Client + Community Partners:

  • City of Oakland Chief Resilience Officer

Project Question:

  • How can we measure the effects of sea level rise in Oakland with help from the community?
