XRP Workshop presented by TTU - College of Engineering
Overview
At Texas Tech University at DFW, the Whitacre College of Engineering Outreach Program will be providing a workshop over the Experimental Robotics Platform(XRP) kits and how they can be integrated into schools to provide STEM, computer science, and robotics programming for their students!
Attendees will get to learn how to use and program the XRP kits and what resources are available to teachers, including lesson plans, supplementary content, and other activities that can be done.
This workshop is open to all high school and middle school teachers in the DFW area! There is no cost to participate, and the kits will be provided for hands-on instruction.
Attendees will need to bring a laptop to be able to complete the workshop!
The Experimental Robotics Platform kits provided by FIRST an affordable, all-in-one solution to bringing robotics programming to your classroom! This kit provides everything you need to get your students started in the world of robotics!
This can also serve as a jump-start program that can lead schools/organizations into starting FIRST Tech Challenge and/or FIRST Robotics Competition teams! It is also a great way to get recent FIRST LEGO League alumni started with more advanced robotics systems!
By integrating programming, sensors, 3D printing, and more, the XRPs serve as an engaging way to learn and grow skills needed to be successful in robotics!
We will go over the entire process of building and programming an XRP robot. We will also go over what resources are available for teachers, including lesson guides, and the different ways they can be integrated into your STEM programming. While anyone is welcome to attend the workshop, it is targeted towards teachers who are new to robotics and want a beginner-friendly introduction.
We will have kits provided for teachers to interact with during the workshop, though teachers who already have an XRP kit are more than welcome to bring their own.
