Xplorer - Lordship REC Ultimate Park Challenge
EXPLORE THE PARK, FIND THE MARKERS, COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE, HAVE FUN TOGETHER
This is the ultimate Xplorer activity for Lordship REC. How well do you know your sports? Answering a series of questions all based around sporting events and people, you are playing for the Lordship REC Sports Trophy - the ultimate park challenge. Use your speed, general knowledge and team work to navigate your way around the park.
Enter in teams of up to 5 people (*any age) and start at 12.15pm prompt to navigate your way around the park.
The winning team is based on getting the most answers to the Lordship REC Sports Trophy questions correct in the shortest period of time when navigating the park. Finishing first is therefore not enough to win!
Xplorer is the perfect outdoor activity for primary and pre-school children and their families.
Xplorer is a family friendly navigation challenge that is educational and fun and gives children a sense of adventure as they explore the park to find the markers. It involves a healthy mix of physical activity and decision making that the whole family can enjoy together.
Using a simple map the aim is to find a number of markers that are located around the park. At each marker each team need to answer a question about sport.
Xplorer is perfect for children as they can have an adventure whilst running around in a safe and friendly environment.
No experience of map reading is necessary and parents are encouraged to join in the fun!
Have fun together – Go Xplore!
How old do children need to be to do Xplorer?
Any age though we have found that children under the age of 12 have found these events very enjoyable.
How does Xplorer work in Lordship REC?
Families or teams work together to find up to 10 markers. All markers have a question which we encourage children to answer. If they answer all correctly, they will receive the Official Xplorer certificate and therefore the Trophy!
How do we navigate the park?
We supply a map and an answer sheet.
How long does it take to complete the whole course?
This depends on you! Some families or teams may complete the course in half an hour, some a little longer.
Can I do this event with a pushchair or with mobility issues?
Yes, we encourage ALL family members to take part. The area covered in Lordship REC is mostly flat so pushchairs, bicycles and wheel chairs can be used.
Do we have to come at a specific time to take part in this event?
This specific Xplorer is a trophy challenge and therefore will only be run once starting at 12:15pm. (Registration time is 12pm).
If you are not taking part in the trophy challenge you can also join Xplorer from 1pm onwards up until 3:30pm and should book these times by going back to Xplorer in Lordship REC on Event Brite and use the drop down menu to pick your time. You can still do Xplorer as a group challenge where you can arrange with others to arrive at the same time (within the hours of when this event runs) and race each other to see who finishes first.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
No, however, we would like you to complete a short form which will hold some very basic data about you.
*We ask for this specific Xplorer that at least 1 person in each team is 18 years old or older and that there are least 2 people in each team.
What about child health and safety?
We encourage participants to do this event as a family making this one of the safest events to take part in as you are therefore responsible for you and your child's safety. As we use the Cafe Hub as a base, basic first aid can be accessed. The Cafe HUB also has toilets, baby changing facilities and of course, refreshments!
Do you take pictures?
We encourage you to take pictures and share them on social media. If we do take pictures of you and your children you will need to sign a form to consent to our doing this.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
If travelling by bus (best option), the 123 or 243 towards Wood Green or towards Tottenham stops directly outside Lordship REC.
There is free parking on Higham Road and surrounding roads (this entrance is on the far side of Lordship REC with a short walk into the park toward the Cafe Hub). Note temporary or permanent parking restrictions before you leave your car.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
No, as Xplorer does not run on a weekly basis. There are specific days and times for this event so may have to wait at least 3 weeks for the next one (which you should register to join).
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, but if you do misplace it, you can still register on the day.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone on 07814 703 966.
