Xplorer - Lordship REC
EXPLORE THE PARK, FIND THE MARKERS, COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE, HAVE FUN TOGETHER
Xplorer is the perfect outdoor activity for primary and pre-school children and their families.
Xplorer is a family friendly navigation challenge that is educational and fun and gives children a sense of adventure as they explore the park to find the markers. It involves a healthy mix of physical activity and decision making that the whole family can enjoy together.
Using a simple map the aim is to find a number of markers that are located around the park. At each marker children need to identify what is pictured on the marker or answer a question and enjoy learning a fun fact to tell their friends. Older children will have fun competing against their friends or other family members whilst younger children will enjoy the excitement of successfully finding the markers.
Xplorer is perfect for children as they can have an adventure whilst running around in a safe and friendly environment.
No experience of map reading is necessary and parents are encouraged to join in the fun!
Have fun together – Go Xplore!
How old do children need to be to do Xplorer?
Any age though we have found that children under the age of 12 have found these events very enjoyable.
How does Xplorer work in Lordship REC?
Families work together to find up to 10-15 markers in the park. All markers have a picture or question on them which we encourage children to write or draw what they see or answer the question. If they write, draw or answer all correctly, they will receive the Official Xplorer certificate.
How do we navigate the park?
We supply a map and an answer sheet.
How long does it take to complete the whole course?
This depends on you! Some families or individuals may complete the course in half an hour, some a little longer.
Can I do this event with a pushchair or with mobility issues?
Yes, we encourage ALL family members to take part. The area covered in Lordship REC is mostly flat so pushchairs, bicycles and wheel chairs can be used.
Do we have to come at a specific time to take part in this event?
We run Xplorer in Lordship REC between certain hours giving families flexibility on when to join. Just turn up on the day (within the hours of when this event runs).
If you would like to do a group challenge, you can arrange with others to arrive at the same time (again within the hours of when this event runs) and race each other to see who finishes first. If you prefer this option, you are in the right place and go ahead and book through Event Brite!
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
No, however, we would like you to complete a short form which will hold some very basic data about you.
What about child health and safety?
We encourage participants to do this event as a family making this one of the safest events to take part in as you are therefore responsible for you and your child's safety. As we use the Cafe Hub as a base, basic first aid can be accessed. The Cafe HUB also has toilets, baby changing facilities and of course, refreshments!
Do you take pictures?
We encourage you to take pictures and share them on social media. If we do take pictures of you and your children you will need to sign a form to consent to our doing this.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
If travelling by bus (best option), the 123 or 243 towards Wood Green or towards Tottenham stops directly outside Lordship REC.
There is free parking on Higham Road and surrounding roads (this entrance is on the far side of Lordship REC with a short walk into the park toward the Cafe Hub). Note temporary or permanent parking restrictions before you leave your car.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
No, as Xplorer does not run on a weekly basis. There are specific days and times for this event so may have to wait at least 3 weeks for the next one (which you should register to join).
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, but if you do misplace it, you can still register on the day.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone on 07814 703 966.
