About the organizer

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA) is an international service organization founded in 1908 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American, college-educated women. Alpha Kappa Alpha comprises over 350,000 members in 1,060 undergraduate and graduate chapters in the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Dubai, Germany, Japan, Liberia, South Africa and South Korea. Xi Omega Chapter is the first and largest Alpha Kappa Alpha graduate chapter in Washington, DC. Established in 1923, the chapter has a membership of more than 600 professional women, who serve the District of Columbia. Xi Omega’s signature program initiatives focus on empowering families, building wealth, enhancing the environment, advocating for social justice and uplifting the local community. These programs are the cornerstone of the AKA international theme, “Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood.”
