Summary:

This free, unique, inaugural event will take place on the evening of Monday, September 16 from 5:00 – 7:30 at the newly renovated Alice Hardie Stevens Center in Laramie, Wyoming.

The goal of the Wyoming Climate Forum is to motivate and empower Wyomingites to confront the climate crisis. The event will use a multi-media and multi-disciplinary approach in presenting the personal choices and policy decisions that will be most effective in addressing global warming and the impact it is having on our planet.

"Our Climate Reality" will include a locally sourced food showcase, an electric vehicle (EV) showcase, speakers, information tables, break-out sessions, and Climate Champion Awards.

Details:

Guest speakers and climate witnesses will give attendees their perspectives on the reality our communities, our state, and our nation must face in order to begin taking the steps necessary to assure a bright future for our children and grandchildren.

The experiences of local citizens in working to reduce their personal carbon footprint will be recognized and celebrated. The first “Climate Champion Awards” will be presented. Climate Champions are those people or businesses who are working to address the climate crisis that threatens humanity. They are raising awareness and encouraging action on the part of both individuals and governments. These awards will be presented in three categories: Student, Individual, and Business.

A local foods showcase is planned that brings together a variety of delicious products from area ranches and farms. People/organizations/restaurants will present shareable dishes that are entered in a competition. Attendees will sample foods and vote, and awards will be presented. The importance of locally-sourcing as many of our consumer choices as possible will also be examined.

Another exciting part of the forum is an electric vehicle showcase where the growing selection of EVs will be presented. Details will be available in the weeks ahead.

Many ways to act on the climate crisis will be presented to forum attendees. They will discover valuable resources and information among tables showcasing the efforts of a wide range of climate advocacy groups and local businesses.

Please set aside the date and plan to join us for this important event. The event is free.

If you are interested in being an exhibitor in the locally sourced food showcase or the electric vehicle (EV) showcase, please email mpsfamily@gmail.com.
