Wykeham Consort: "Adio Espana"
Sun, April 30, 2017, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM EDT
The Wykeham Consort returns by popular request to St. Andrew’s “Music in the Nave” Concert Series on Sunday, April 30 at 4 p.m. The Consort will present a program of Sephardic and Spanish Renaissance music titled “Adio España”. The music expresses the experience of the Spanish Jews, who were orced to leave Spain in the late 15th century. The songs and stories of the Sephardim express the sorrows of loss, the joys of young love, the trials of parents, the history of a people, and the sounds of the new cultures who gave them shelter.
The Wykeham Consort is a group of musicians from the area who have come together through a passion for early music. A new love for Sephardic music, old and new, evolved from their performance of Spanish Renaissance music and the addition of a percussionist.
The following local resturants are offering a free menu item to concert attendees who plan to go out to dinner after the concert: The Fife 'Drum, Kingsley's Tavern and Giffords. Check with your server to find out what item is being offered and show them your ticket or program.
