Do you have an estate sale find you just couldn’t pass up or a family heirloom you’ve been wondering about?

Find out what they’re really worth during the WYES ANTIQUES SHOWCASE with New Orleans Auction Galleries on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at WYES located at 916 Navarre Avenue in New Orleans.

During the event, attendees may have items evaluated by antique experts, sit in on three separate antique-related seminars and visit the vendor area. *See a complete list of antique items of what 'can' and 'cannot' be evaluated in FAQs below.

As one of the country’s leading regional auction companies, New Orleans Auction Galleries (NOAG), will provide antique experts to assess your antiques assets throughout the all-day event.

The following experts will be on hand: Charles C. Cage, Silver & Fine Books, Documents & Manuscripts; Jelena Restovic James, Director of Fine Art; Michele M. Carolla, British and American Paintings and Sculpture; Ireys Bowman, General Specialist – Decorative Objects, Porcelain, Handbags; Tom Halverson, American Furniture & Decorative Arts; Greg S. Kowles, Furniture & Restoration; Kim Lemon, Fine Jewelry; and Claudia Kheel, Southern Regional Fine Art Specialist.

Tickets will be sold in two separate time slots:

10am-Noon

Noon-2pm

***As of 1/11/23, a new $30 ticket price has been added. You can enter anytime and may bring one item to be evaluated. Seminars + wine & light bites included.

Prices are: $45 General Admission which includes two items to be evaluated by an expert; $100 VIP includes front of line access with two appraisals and $20 Friend of Event will allow entry into building.

  • Any adult who enters the building MUST have a ticket
  • All ticket prices include wine & light bites (including Friend of Event ticket)
  • All ticket prices include 3 seminars by antique experts throughout the day (including Friend of Event ticket). Seminar seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

The three 30-minute seminars include Q&A and will be held on the third floor in the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation board room.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)

How many items can I have evaluated during the WYES ANTIQUES SHOWCASE on Saturday, February 4?

Two items. Please note, anyone who enters the building MUST have a ticket.

Please have your Eventbrite ticket printed out and/or be ready to show your confirmation on your phone.

What time is the event?

Tickets will be sold for three separate time slots:

10am-Noon

Noon – 2pm

What are the ticket prices for each time slot and what does it include?

• $30 (1 Item Evaluated + Enjoy Wine, Light Bites & Seminars) NO SPECIFIC TIME FOR ENTERING; COME ANYTIME

• $45 (2 Items Evaluated + Enjoy Wine, Light Bites & Seminars)

• $100 VIP (Front Line Access; 2 Items Evaluated + Enjoy Wine, Light Bites & Seminars)

• $20 Friend of Event (No Item Evaluated; Enjoy Wine, Light Bites & Seminars)

All ticket prices include wine and light bites, as well as access to three seminars by antique experts throughout the day.

If I purchased a ticket for the 10am-Noon slot, can I come at 2pm?

No, you must come during the designated time slot in which you purchased your ticket. This is done in order to provide less of a wait time for all attendees.

Can I bring my child?

Yes. Please know there will alcohol served. A child must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

What items can I bring in to be evaluated?

During the event experts in the following will be on hand to evaluate your item(s): jewelry, silver, decorative arts, fine books, art and sculptures, small pieces of furniture.

What if I have a large item?

Please note, for large items, only photographs are allowed. We consider a large item, something you cannot carry into WYES yourself. Please bring along with multiple, clear and crisp photos of your large item (1) the measurements, (2) any special markings, (3) maker/designer. Pictures of the front, back, and side of your item would be helpful.

What items will NOT be evaluated?

There will not be experts in the following, so therefore the following items are NOT allowed: guns or weapons; musical instruments; sports, entertainment or other memorabilia; ethnographic artifacts; tools; toys or dolls; textiles; comic books or magazines; natural history/taxidermy; ivory, rhinoceros horn or other materials from endangered species.

What should I do if I need help carrying my items?

Unfortunately, staff and volunteers are not permitted to carry or move items. You must be able to carry your own item to the appropriate expert’s table. No carts or dollies are permitted.

What can I do once my item has been evaluated?

We encourage you to visit Studio A on the first floor. There you will find many booths of antique vendors. You can also attend any of our antique seminars on the third floor at 11am, 1pm & 3pm. *Seminar seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

How do I attend an antique seminar?

All three antique seminars will be held on the third floor in the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation board room.

11am: “Furniture Essentials: Living with Antiques” by Furniture Specialist & Restorer Greg S. Kowles

Noon: “From the Bayou to the City: Louisiana Art” by Regional Fine Art Specialist Claudia Kheel

1pm: “Stunning Silver: From New Orleans to Beyond” by Silver Specialist Charles C. Cage

*Seminar seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I bring my cell phone and take photos?

Yes, but please do not accept or respond to any calls or texts while you are meeting with an expert.

Will I be on TV?

This event is not part of the PBS “Antiques Roadshow” series. However, there will be cameras recording during the event.

Where can I park?

There is plenty of free parking in WYES’ parking lot. Plus, we are next to Delgado Community College and they are allowing us to use their parking lots for the day of the event. There is also plenty of street parking. Please be courtesy to our neighbors and do not block any driveways.
