WTS Monterey Bay Transportation Happy Hour:
The Future of the Way We Move, Part 2:
Fun Times on the MST Electric Trolley
Join us for an exciting glimpse into the future of transportation! The WTS Monterey Bay Programs Committee is happy to announce that the Monterey-Salinas Transit District (MST) will be hosting our next “transportation happy hour” with a presentation about and ride on the award-winning electric trolley.
Lisa Rheinheimer, Director of Planning and Marketing, MST, will moderate a panel of speakers. Ms. Rheinheimer has a Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University. In her role at MST, Ms. Rheinheimer manages the planning, scheduling, marketing, customer service and outreach functions of the agency.
Mike Hernandez, Chief Operating Office of MST, will share MST’s experience with the Monterey electric trolley. This vehicle, which started service in May 2015, is the first in the nation to operate a wireless power transfer technology on a public transit route. The trolley uses inductive charging in the roadways installed by Wireless Advanced Vehicle Electrification (WAVE).
A BYD (Build Your Dreams) electric bus powered with batteries has been invited to display one of its 30-foot buses. This vehicle will be on order for a bus route in Salinas.
