About this event

The Pulpit in an Age of Controversy

“…we must always maintain the dignity of the pulpit. I hold that it is the Thermopylae of Christendom; it is here the battle must be fought between right and wrong—" - Charles H. Spurgeon

Today, perhaps like no time in recent memory, gospel preachers are called to steward their ministry in the context of culture-wide controversy. As the Church navigates recovery from our global pandemic, she still faces great controversy within and without on issues theological, moral, social, and civic. In times such as these, the Church is called to live out its identity and mission as “the pillar and buttress of the truth.” (1 Tim.3:15). This year The Westminster Conference on Preaching and Preachers has been arranged to encourage and equip preachers and church leaders to steward the pulpit in faithful service of that call. Please join us on the campus of Westminster Theological Seminary from Oct. 19-20, 2021, to hear speakers: Neil Stewart, Rick Phillips, Eric Watkins, Peter Lillback, and Harry Reeder exposit on preaching the Word in the midst our current cultural moment.
