Wed, April 12, 2017, 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM PDT
Presenter: Erin LaRue – Business Development Manager, Kelly IT
Do you remember the days when eager workers would walk in the front door of the office and ask for a job application? Or when you could post a job in the newspaper and that was the single best way to reach a large audience?
The world has changed. Now there are endless websites, applications, agencies, social media, applicant tracking systems, and networking events with which to find people with your company’s desired experience/skillsets.
Which search avenues are the best use of your time? And when you do find the talent, how do you get them to walk in the front door and want to work for you?
What you’ll learn:
How to organize your efforts, which sites/tools/vendors are best for each type of position.
How to recognize the common "red-flags" in a candidates’ resume.
Common pitfalls in the interview process (legal, tactful, waste of time).
Advice/best practices on how to respectfully challenge others – candidates, hiring managers and suppliers.
The offer – knowing what matters to lock in their commitment and feel wanted.
Meet your Presenter: Erin LaRue is a scientist by education and work experience, she has long been self-driven to understand cause and effect, followed by making sure the desired result can be repeated over and over. Combine that with over 15 years of customer service experience and it was only natural that she ended up in the world of staffing - developing processes and relationships to help people find fulfilling work.
The search was also a personal one for Erin as she struggled for many years to find the right career path. She has worked for huge corporations, small family owned businesses, office environments, academia, manufacturing facilities, even working in the extreme environments of commercial fishing boats on the Bering Sea before finding her home in staffing.
Often called a social butterfly, Erin has always been fascinated by the huge differences between what angered, motivated, or inspired loyalty in employees in the workplace. However, the one constant she found that caused the highest and most rapid turnover was when people felt they were lied to, or intentionally misled about the job requirements or how their work is valued. This resulted in a kind of mantra that has stuck with her for years “KNOW YOUR BUSINESS!” so you know what you are truly offering.
