Event Details

Farmers, chefs, food processors (both existing and new), and passionate 'foodies' take this opportunity to learn how to develop a value-added product from concept to market. 

This series of classes will be conducted in a roundtable format in order to encourage collaboration and networking opportuntities. 

Guest speakers will present on relevant topics including examples of experienced and successful producers of value-added products.


Some of the topics that we will cover include:

  • Business planning for value-added enterprises
  • Marketing and market research
  • Food safety
  • Sources of knowledge and expertise
  • Regulatory requirements
  • Financing
  • Co-packing options

The primary objective is to assist specialty crop producers and processors to increase their farm or business profitability. 

We expect to help create new entrepreneurial ventures utilizing WA grown specialty crops as ingredients in successfully marketed value-added products.


Workshop details and location specifics will be forwarded in advance of the first meeting date.  (Please include an email and phone contact when you register).


Cost for this workshop series includes lunch for all four days as well as snacks and beverage service.


Schedule for the four day workshops as follows:

  • Spokane: Consecutive Tuesdays, Oct. 23 - Nov. 13; 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
  • Wenatchee  (serving Kittitas, Douglas, Chelan, Grant, and Okanogan counties): Consecutive Wednesdays, Oct. 24- Nov. 14; 9:00 - 3:30

This series will be repeated during the winter on the Olympic Peninsula (Clallum/Jefferson Co), SW WA (Clark Co.), Skagit Co., and in King Co. (at 21 Acres, Woodinville).  Input and suggestions welcomed.
