About this Event

Built in 1890, the Harry Tracy Water Treatment Plant and Lower Crystal Springs Dam are historical landmarks that recently underwent significant renovations. The Lower Crystal Springs Dam served as a model for the Hoover Dam and survived the 1989 Loma Prieta and 1906 San Francisco seismic events. The improved treatment plant facility now has the capacity to supply nearly one million people with water for 60 days within 24 hours of a major earthquake. New construction above the dam added a replacement cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete box girder bridge.

Join ASCE and the facility’s water operators on a tour to learn about major upgrades, watershed land management, and the history and future of the treatment plant and dam.

Attendees will walk around the site, enjoying the beauty spots along the trail and bridge, from where the group will have an excellent vantage point to observe the facilities in operation. No PPE required.
