Strolling with the Stars is a Worldcon tradition. However, it's also a bit slower than we like. We want a little more activity. A little more zip. We want to go for a run.
Authors Mur Lafferty (The Shambling Guide to New York City and Ghost Train to New Orleans) and Adam Rakunas (Windswept) invite you to join them on Friday, August 21 at 8am for Wrun With Writers, a three-mile fun run through Spokane's Riverfront Park, with heavy emphasis on the fun. All levels of runner are welcome! This is not a race, nor is it an officially sanctioned event. There are, however, ribbons for all who participate.
We will meet at the Red Wagon in Riverfront Park, located 0.2 miles from the Spokane Convention Center (see map above) at 8am. The actual running will begin around 8.15 am, or whenever we all feel like it. Please wear actual running shoes and leave your replica Hobbit Feet for cosplay later in the day. We plan on running at a very, very mellow pace (between eleven and thirteen minutes a mile, though speed demons are welcome to go as fast as they want; we'll wave to you). If you have not run this distance before, please begin training for it now. This is a fun run, and loading someone into an ambulance is not fun for anyone.
