Questions of identity—what it is, what it means, and how it affects us personally and culturally—have grown much more prevalent in recent years. And writers in particular often find themselves addressing these questions in their own work even when they didn’t expect to.

This workshop will delve into the intricacies of identity, both on the personal level and the societal level. For six weeks, we will dissect identity and examine each component in order to develop a deeper understanding of what makes people who they are. By diving into poetry, visual art, dialogue, essays, and stories, we’ll explore what the different lenses of identity look like, how identities function on a micro-to-macro-level, where culture comes from and how it's reproduced, and how to tackle controversial topics relating to identity.

Anyone interested in the topic of identity is encouraged to participate regardless of writing background.
