Designed for Teachers and Technology Integration Specialists serving grades K-12

  • Learn to use technology tools that engage students in cross curricular writing experiences for all students
  • Create an efficient writer’s workshop learning environment using digital tools to enhance the role of the teacher
  • Learn about free websites and apps that will engage, enhance, and extend writing experiences for your students
  • Use digital tools to discover new and practical ways to foster collaboration and create deeply connected learning communities

What you Will Learn

Writing is an important skill but is often put to the bottom of the to do list for teachers because of time constraints, lack of confidence, or difficulty motivating and reaching reluctant students. Let me share how you can then use technology tools to engage, enhance, and extend the learning during your writer’s workshop in any grade level. During this lively workshop, you will discover how valuable the integration of technology can be when used with purpose. I’ll expose you to a plethora of digital tools and I’ll demonstrate practical ways to quickly and seamlessly differentiate instruction to provide authentic, exciting learning experiences for all learners. Strategies will be shared that will enable educators to spend more time individually helping students with content. You should leave this workshop with an abundance of tools to engage students in the writing process, enhance the learning materials currently being used, and extend writing beyond the classroom for authentic audiences. Let me show you how you can ignite student engagement and motivate reluctant or resistant writers.

Through hands-on activities, educators will learn ways in which they can engage, enhance, and extend learning using digital tools such as videos, storyboards, blogging, eBooks, and more throughout the writing process. They will explore various online tools to provide choices for students to demonstrate their learning in exciting formats beyond the traditional written paper. Examples they’ll explore include the creation of digital books, use of green screen, multimedia projects, blogging, video newscasts, and more!

Opportunities will be provided for workshop attendees to transform a piece of their own writing into an authentic, engaging, 21st century presentation that they are proud to share.

Educators will learn how to take students’ learning beyond the walls of the classroom and allow them opportunities to explore, create, collaborate, and share their knowledge!
