Description

"Got a great idea for a novel? Perhaps you've started a film but have been struck down by writer's block? Our maybe you're just looking to learn a new skill?

Try one of our practical writing workshops to boost your confidence and unlock that creative potential."

The event will take place at Fora Space - Clerkenwell - Dallington Street

We have 8 sessions, each 50 minutes, led by industry writers, authors and journalists - this is a great way to sample our classes and gain professional insights.

- Screenings of City Academy's award winning short film 'Age of Reason'

Open to everyone (18+), beginners welcome.

No preparation is required, and all are welcome (18+).

Our Tutors

Tracey Hammett - Tracey has been writing for BBC Digital Children’s Channels since 2000, working on several award winning children’s programmes. She regularly writes for radio and the theatre, as well as visiting schools to promote creative writing and poetry.

Nina Reece - Nina is a freelance creative and critical writer. She has written copy for Paper Tank Collective, and The Ghost Bus Tours, as well as blog posts, SEO optimised copy, brand literature and social media.

Freddie Machin - Freddie teaches a variety of mixed age and ability groups at institutes across London. His feature film ‘Chicken’ was released in 2016 and premiered on FilmFour.

Helen Cullen - Helen's debut novel, The Lost Letters of William Woolf was published in 2018 by Penguin the UK, Ireland, Australia and South Africa and will be published in the USA by Harper Collins in 2019.

Jon Barton - Jon has written plays for the Old Vic Theatre, Almeida Theatre, The Bush Theatre and HighTide Festival Theatre. He currently writes for Holby City.

Lisa Carroll - Lisa is an Irish playwright based in London. Most recently, her play Róisín was performed at the Old Red Lion and Cuckoo at the Soho Theatre.

Simon Wright - a co-producer of The Sitcom Mission: an international sitcom writing competition which showcases the best submissions in front of experts from the British TV and radio comedy industry.
