About the Workshop

Join poet, playwright, and educator Dr. Yolanda Nieves for a six-week immersive Writers Workshop at Victory Gardens Theater. Designed for emerging and established writers alike, this hands-on series invites participants to explore storytelling through what Dr. Nieves calls “radical sincerity,” connecting the personal to the universal through creative expression.

Each session emphasizes collaboration, experimentation, and the development of original scripts or performance pieces. The workshop culminates in a final public showcase on December 21, where participants will share their work on stage at Victory Gardens Theater.

About Yolanda Nieves

Yolanda Nieves is a poet, playwright, and activist educator whose award-winning work explores identity, culture, and storytelling. A Chicago-born, second-generation Puerto Rican artist and published author, Dr. Nieves brings decades of experience in creative writing, performance, and education.
