About this Event

Calling all Conroy fans! Join us for a very special evening with local author Katherine Clark and executive director of the Pat Conroy Literary Center Jonathan Haupt as they share their memories of this beloved Southern author in Our Prince of Scribes: Writers Remember Pat Conroy and the biographyMy Exaggerated Life.

Pensacola author Katherine Clark holds an A.B. degree in English from Harvard and a Ph.D. in English from Emory. She is the author of the oral biography of Pat Conroy, My Exaggerated Life, and coauthor of the oral biographies Motherwit: An Alabama Midwife’s Story, with Onnie Lee Logan, and Milking the Moon: A Southerner’s Story of Life on This Planet, a finalist for a National Book Critics Circle award, coauthored with Eugene Walter. Clark is the author of the much-loved Mountain Brook series of novels beginning with The Headmaster’s Darlings, winner of the 2015 Willie Morris Award for Southern Fiction.

Jonathan Haupt is the executive director of the Pat Conroy Literary Center and the former director of the University of South Carolina Press. With novelist Nicole Seitz, he is co-editor of the award-winning anthology Our Prince of Scribes: Writers Remember Pat Conroy, Haupt's articles, book reviews, and author interviews have appeared in the Charleston Post and Courier, Beaufort Lowcountry Weekly, Beaufort Lifestyle magazine, Southern Writers magazine's Suite T blog, and the Conroy Center's Porch Talk blog. He serves as an associate producer and consultant to the SCETV author interview program By the River, on the board of directors of the South Carolina Academy of Authors and the Friends of South Carolina Libraries, and on the American Writers Museum affiliates steering committee.
