Come and join us at Manchester Metropolitan University to hear work from two of the city’s most exciting and important novelists.

Sarah Butler is a lecturer in the Manchester Writing School at Manchester Met, and her third novel, newly launched, is Jack and Bet, an unforgettable novel about love and loss, the joys and regrets of a long marriage, and the struggle to find a place to call home. Award-Winning author Paul McVeigh has praised the “moving yet unsentimental story about family and love and the secrets we live with”. Sarah’s previous novels are Ten Things I've Learnt About Love and Before the Fire. Her writing has been translated into fourteen languages. She is also the author of a novella, Not Home, written in conversation with people living in unsupported temporary accommodation.

Okechukwu Nzelu is the author of The Private Joys of Nnenna Maloney, described by The Guardian as “ fiction as sculpture: skilfully paring down a scene to reveal the shape of the pain hidden within” and praised by The Metro for its “zingy, insightful observational comedy”. It’s a hilarious and heart-warming novel set in Manchester about a half-Nigerian teenager searching for the answer to that essential question: Who am I?.

Both Novelists will share their work and take questions on what is sure to be a memorable night .
