Event description

Description

Hercules Editions is pleased to present The Singing Glacier by award-winning poet Helen Mort.

In August 2016, Helen, along with composer William Carslake, travelled to southeastern Greenland to cross the remote glaciers and climb mountains near Sermiligaaq Fjord. They were later joined by filmmaker Richard Jones, who captured images of the extraordinary landscape. Their responses formed a unique performance with original music, poetry and film footage. The Singing Glacier documents their journey in book form, including the whole of the poem sequence, portions of the musical score, and photographs from their climb. Included in the book is a conversation between Mort and Carslake, and an afterward by the literary geographer David Cooper, Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The event is free to attend and all are welcome but pre-booking via EventBrite is essential.
